NewsClaim Coverage — Shin Jang-sik Solo Exhibition 〈Maewolgwaneum〉 (2026)
NewsClaim (May 30, 2026; Choi Hwan-geum, Gyeonggi-North desk) reports on Shin Jang-sik's solo exhibition 〈Maewolgwaneum — The Moon, Plum Blossoms and Guanyin〉 (Hanju Art Space, Paju, June 2 – Aug 31, 2026; opening June 6, 5 p.m.). The article brings together the series the artist has painted since 1993, his work, and 〈Moon and Plum Blossoms, Lingering〉 — a new piece unveiled for the first time, made specifically for Hanju Art Space. It recalls 〈Mt. Geumgang from Sangpaldam〉 (2001) hung at the April 27, 2018 inter-Korean summit, the shift from conceptual to true-view (jingyeong) landscape after Mt. Geumgang tours opened in 1998, Mt. Seorak painted as a counterpart (對句) during the pandemic, and the artist's circular plum blossoms set against Eo Mongryong's 〈Plum and Moon〉 on the 50,000-won note — alongside the artist's biography (b. 1959 Daegu; Seoul National University; 1989 Grand Prize at the for 〈Arirang — Happy Day〉; Kookmin University professor 1998–2024).
