〈Mt. Geumgang — Hope〉 brings together the artist's view of Mt. Geumgang as the hope and life of the Korean peninsula. In his own words, the cease-fire line itself becomes the 'Arirang pass' that one crosses with difficulty, only to reach the mountain of hope on the other side. Rendered as the crowning peak of the Baekdu-daegan range — our beautiful land in bloom — the work carries a quiet wish that the mountain's noble spirit might bring peace to the divided peninsula and joy to its people.
